MIDWIFERY Package
Includes:
Collaborative, individualized, inclusive care is built into my practice.
What does this mean for you?
That I acknowledge that everyone comes from different walks of life different cultures, race, religious backgrounds, sexual orientation, gender identity and this all shapes who you are and the care I give is not just based on the physical health but who you are as a person. This is why I will not only focus on your physical health but spiritual, emotional, and mental health are equally important. My goal for you is that in having this type of care you can take ownership of the decisions you get to make with your family to empower you to have a healthy and trauma free pregnancy and birth experience!
As a Licensed Midwife, my scope of practice only allows me to take healthy low risk clients. This is why its very important to start your first appointment with a thorough visit. Attentive prenatal care is the best way to avoid and/or recognize complications and help us prevent them from progressing.
This will also give you the best chance in staying low-risk and with continuing your goal to birth at home.
PRENATAL Care
We will begin your care with an Initial Prenatal appointment. This visit will include:
-
Reviewing your medical history
-
Creating an ER care plan
-
Physical exam to know your baseline
-
Routine Lab work
-
Reviewing/ signing informed consents
All of your visits will take place in the comfort and safety of your home. Each visit is about 45mins-1hr with the exception of the initial visit being the longest 1.5-2hrs.
Incorporating holistic care as a first line of defense and also it being part of my scope of practice will include treating common pregnancy concerns with nutrition, herbs, natural supplements, homeopathy, and body work. Of course I'm also not afraid of recommending allopathic care/treatment and referring to back OB/health practitioner when needed!
At each prenatal visit we will take documentation of your vitals, provide urinalysis dipsticks, and offer routine labs as needed. Baby checks for fetal growth and well being include palpating position, measuring your belly and getting heart tones. Each visit will always include the time for your questions, concerns, and providing information on your pregnancy and wellness.

HOMEBIRTH & Waterbirth
What to Expect:
At the time of your labor I will triage you over the phone / text during early labor to make recommendations on how to help with progressing to active labor. I will arrive with another Licensed Midwife and/ or Birth Assistant when you are in active labor calmly and prepared with my birth equipment. During this time I will set up my equipment, get your and baby's vitals and assess labor progress. I will continue to monitor you and the baby's vitals throughout labor. This ensures that your home birth stays within low-risk limits and allows me as your provider to catch any complications sooner rather than later.
I will always be respectful of the support that is needing during labor. I may be very hands on supporting you as much as you need or I may be very hands off if you prefer no touch, or talking. I believe in letting the physiological labor process to unfold which is why I will always encourage you to move freely. This will allow for a smoother birth and working with gravity will allow for baby’s descent to be easier through the pelvis. Staying nourished and hydrated will also make a huge impact on your labor progressing!
Waterbirth is also an option as it provides pain relief and relaxation during the active stage of labor. Included in my practice is the option for a birth pool if that is something you're wanting. When the baby is born I make sure you both are transitioning well and have all the equipment needed if baby needs help breathing, as its normal for them to slowly transition. I don't rush to cut the umbilical cord because this allows better transition for baby being skin to skin and allowing all of the extra blood pumping back to them from the placenta. I will not remove your placenta manually but facilitate with the physiological process of delivering the placenta if needed. Once your placenta is delivered if there is more bleeding than expected I'm prepared to manage it with antihemorrhagic medications. I will stay up to 3-6 hours ensuring that you're both stable, a part of this also includes making sure you've initiated breastfeeding and doing a full head to toe newborn exam at the foot of your bed without taking the baby anywhere!
POSTPARTUM Care
I'm a huge believer that if excellent and attentive quality care is provided in the postpartum period this will lower your chances of postpartum depression and will give you an optimal chance of full recovery and your baby a smoother transition from being in-utero and now into the “outside” world.
After the birth you will be tucked into bed and given detailed postpartum instructions and as long as you and baby are stable I will make my way home typically within 3-4 hours after the birth. You will still have access to me 24 hr phone support up until your 6 week postpartum visit.
